There is a great piece of performance art going around the web today. It is an 11 second segment of Alan Rickman making a cup of tea, but recorded with high-speed camera and stretched out to 8 minutes. Oh, and someone has put the Inception soundtrack to it. It surely is an epic tea-time!
Before I link the video I just want to comment on the insight allowed by the slow motion. Every nuance can be seen, and the deliberation of the actions. I think it is a wonderful example of mindfulness. Alan is a great actor who has perfected his craft over years. He studies and practices behaviour and actions to perform and as such, in ‘playing at life’ as a character, is more present in each moment than many of us in our reality.
If Shakespeare was right and, “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players”, perhaps we should brush up our act?
